Earnshaw Bridge start life in the Prem with a win.

Hunters & Ingol Rangers (yellow) v Ashton on Ribble - Premier Division

Tanterton & Springfields (blue) v Ribbleton - Premier Division

More photos >>

The new season started with three postponements due unfit pitches which we hope is not a portent for the rest of the season. One of the games to fall by the wayside was the top premier division clash between the champions Acregate Lane LC and runners up Southport & Ainsdale Amateurs.

Tanterton & Springfields gave their new manager Warren Beattie the perfect start with a 5-1 win against a youthful Ribbleton side at the UCLan Arena. Ezzy Rennock (2), Jack Phoenix (2) and Connor Jackson got the Tanterton goals with Kieran Campbell on target for Ribbleton. A Lewis Pilgrim hat trick and a brace from Adan Stammers saw Hunters & Ingol Rangers start their season with a 5-1 win at home to Ashton on Ribble, Chris Ward got the Ashton goal. Premier new boys Earnshaw Bridge started their campaign with a 2-1 home win against Theatre Boys and Bamber Bridge United enjoyed an excellent 1-0 home win against AFC Ingol.

Games this Weekend

As no communication has been received from either Preston or South Ribble Councils about their pitches this weekend, we are allowing games on their parks to go ahead. However, the match referee will have the final decision on whether the pitch is playable or not. Match officials, clubs and players are expected to act responsibly and abide by the referees decision.

If the game is called off the pitch MUST NOT be used for a friendly game or a training session.

New Longton Rovers in Uganda

The New Longton Rovers kits being worn by lads in Uganda

Well sort of......

New Longton Rovers kindly donated one of their youth team kits to our Kits for Uganda Appeal and the clubs distinctive black & white colours, club badge and logo of their sponsor CW BERRY are now being proudly worn by this team of lads in a remote area of East Central Africa.

To date, clubs from this League have donated no less than 122 kits to our Uganda Appeal. Local Football League referee Michael Salisbury delivers the kits to the headquarters of Teams4U a charity set up by Dave Cooke and based in Wrexham. The kits are subsequently taken out to Uganda and distributed to the schools and clubs where they are gratefully received.

Dave Cooke said, “I am eternally gratefully to the Lancashire Sunday Football League and its clubs for their support. We get most of our kits from your league and they go to kids and lads who have nothing and who cannot thank you enough so I’m thanking you on their behalf”.

If you have an old kit that you can donate, please get in touch with Eamonn McNamara here.
