Today being Remembrance Sunday, a minutes silence was respectfully observed before all games in this league to remember those who had perished in conflicts and whose sacrifice has enabled us to enjoy the beautiful game.
The weather had the last word once again, with only 15 of the 34 scheduled games taking place. At least two of the Syndicate Trust Presidents Cup 1st Round games took place and curiously they both finished 8-1, Gregson Lane beat Leyland Orient thanks to hat tricks from Ryan Morgan and Tony Smalley and goals from Ben Thornley and Ashley Hart. Paul Allen scored for Orient. Meanwhile Southport & Ainsdale Amateurs also had two hat trick heroes in Jordan Middleton and Daniel Boden with Robert Lamont and Chris Bates completing the scoring. Hamza Ahmed was on target for Fishwick Rangers.
After a run of five consecutive wins which have propelled them to the top of division 3, Sir Tom Finney were held to a 1-1 draw this morning by a very workmanlike Bamber Bridge Town who they beat 4-1 just a month ago. Troy Pannett scored for Finneys and Marc Stansfield was on target for Bamber Bridge. These two clubs represented the League by observing the minutes silence this morning. Sir Tom Finney will be looking over their shoulder at second placed Leyland Athletic who are six points behind them with three games in hand after they won 9-1 at BAE Warton.
AFC Ingol are up to second spot in the premier division following their 5-2 win against Tanterton at UCLan Sports Arena, third placed Ingol Rangers beat Ashton Villa 7-1 and Acregate Lane LC had a 2-1 home win against Springfields. Just the one game played in division 1 and it saw Bolton Lads & Girls Club win 3-0 away at Wyresdale Rangers and in doing so reclaim top spot in the division. The top two teams in division two both recorded home wins, Walton beating Westhoughton and Arkwrights winning 3-1 at Corpus Christi against Fulwood Park Rangers.
Bolton County lead youth division red after winning 2-1 at Haslingden St Marys and Southport won 4-2 at Coppull United, Padiham beat Bamber Bridge United and Winstanley Warriors beat Aspull to maintain second place. The only game in youth division white resulted in a 3-1 win for BAE Warton at Garstang and thanks to the weather no games were played in youth division blue.
