A day of mass postponements in the LFA U18s Youth Cup, Presidents Cup and Youth Trophy means that there will be wholesale changes to next week’s and the changes will be posted on here as soon as possible.
The big game in the quarter-finals of the Syndicate Trust Presidents Cup saw division 1 leaders Arkwrights host division 2 hotshots Sir Tom Finney at Ashton Community College. Prior to kick off these two clubs had only lost three games between them all season so a tight game was expected and so it turned out with a single goal from Sir Tom Finney’s Jake Turner, his 24th of the season, deciding the issue. Penwortham Town (division 2) booked their place in the semi-finals with an excellent 4-1 win over in form AFC Longridge (division 1). Rob Mullarkey (2), Tom Seed and Tom Sandells scored for Penwortham with Jake Craven replying for Longridge.
Fulwood Amateurs beat Mellor and Mill Hill beat Haslingden St Marys to book their places in the semi-finals of the Syndicate Trust Youth Trophy.
Ribbleton now lead the premier division after their 5-2 win against Ashton on Ribble at London Rd whilst Springfields and Bamber Bridge United drew 4-4 at the UCLan Arena. The four games in division 2 all ended with away wins, Leyland Orient at Bamber Bridge Town, Fulwood Park Rangers at Fishwick Rangers, Blackpool Town at Gregson Lane and AFC Preston at Kingsfold. Midgery Court made it two wins on the bounce after beating Leyland BTR 5-0 in division 3, Ribble beat Tarleton Corinthians 3-2 and Tarleton White won 3-2 at Rufford Park Rangers.
The only game played in youth division white resulted in a 5-2 win for Southport at Layton Cavs and the three games played in youth division blue resulted in wins for Gregson Lane against Tarleton Corinthians, Fulwood Amateurs Blues won at Ribble Wanderers and Ribbleton beat Springfields at Waverley Park.
