It was a sombre day for the League as all teams observed a minute’s silence in memory of Alastair Cudworth, the popular manager of Whittle Wanderers who died last Monday and Alastair would have been proud of his team who beat AFC Preston 4-3 after extra time in their Syndicate Trust Presidents Cup game.

Premier division AFC Ingol beat Sir Tom Finney 5-3 in their Syndicate Trust Challenge Cup quarter-final game and Bamber Bridge United beat Ribbleton 3-1 in the premier division at UCLan Sports Arena. The top clash in division 2 saw Park United beat Waverley Park 5-3 at Mill Lane and who would be a football manager as Waverley boss Paul Hopkins saw his team race to a 3-1 lead before collapsing to a 5-3 defeat and ending the game with nine men. Wilbraham NE won 3-2 at Sporting Preston and Worden Rangers beat Ribbleton 5-1.

Fishwick Rangers suffered a setback as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Midgery Court, Bamber Bridge Town beat Leyland 7-2 and Rufford Park Rangers won 6-0 at Moor Park United. Winstanley Warriors won 3-0 at AFC Darwen to progress into the semi-finals of the Syndicate Trust Youth Cup and they will be joined by Clitheroe who won 4-1 at Fleetwood Town and New Longton Rovers, 2-1 winners at Park United.
