Jock Wilson RIP
Jock Wilson, one of the founders of Ingol Rangers Football Club, passed away on Monday 15 June at the age of 83.
Jock, along with 5 friends formed Ingol Rangers FC in 1973 and the name Rangers was adopted due to Jocks love of his hometown club Glasgow Rangers FC. He insisted that team would always play in blue, a tradition which the club has maintained to the present day.
The club were originally based at Jock’s local pub, the John O ’Gaunt in Ingol and Jock was extremely proud to manage the club in their maiden season in the Lancashire Evening Post Sunday League where they finished champions of division 5, winning 24 and drawing 1 of the 26 games. The club won the LFA Sunday Trophy in 2003, they have been League champions 4 times and won the Challenge Cup on 5 occasions.
For many years Jock continued his involvement with the club in various capacities and he always showed a keen interest in their results in his later years. He was immensely proud of his contribution and his legacy and the club’s thoughts are with his family at this sad time. RIP Jock.
