Latest NewsSunday November 11, 2018Lostock Hall & Earnshaw Bridge provide the Cup ShocksEarnshaw Bridge (left) & Tanterton observe a minute's silence on Remembrance Sunday Tanterton (green) v Earnshaw Bridge - Challenge Cup A minute’s silence to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice was respectfully observed before all games in the Lancashire Sunday League this morning. A poignant reminder that their sacrifice enables us to enjoy the beautiful game … in peace. Today was cup Sunday with games in the Challenge, Presidents and Youth Cups and they provided a few shocks. None more so that Lostock Hall, who top division 3 and who handed out a 5-1 drubbing to premier division Ribbleton in the Syndicate Trust Challenge Cup thanks to goals from Mark Ganner, David Scarborough and a hat trick from Dion Holden. Richie Allen replied for Ribbleton. Premier division Tanterton hosted Earnshaw Bridge who are unbeaten in division 1 and a tight game was to be expected and so it turned out. Both teams managed to cancel each other out on a heavy Village Green pitch as we went 75 minutes without a goal and then got two in 30 seconds. Firstly, Mark Carlton pounced to put Earnshaw ahead with a strike from just inside the area and half a minute later, with the Bridge lads still celebrating, Ezzy Rennock took advantage to hit an equaliser. The game was decided by a penalty to Earnshaw Bridge, awarded by referee Mark Hughes and dispatched with aplomb by Will Banks. Hunters & Ingol Rangers beat Bamber Bridge United 5-2, Theatre Boys won 1-0 at Springfields, AFC Ingol won at Warton, Tulketh United beat Gregson Lane Wanderers 3-2, Southport & Ainsdale A won 7-0 at Fishwick Rangers and Walton won 5-4 at AFC Preston. AFC Longridge were the big winners in the Syndicate Trust Presidents Cup winning 8-1 at Wyresdale Rangers, Arkwrights beat Worden Rangers 4-1, Park United won 6-2 at Bamber Bridge Town and Blackpool Town had a big 9-0 home win against Tarleton White. Sir Tom Finney won 5-2 at Fulwood Park Rangers, Waverley Park went one better winning 6-2 at Leyland BTR where Jamie Yates netted 4 and Penwortham Town won 4-0 at Ribbleton Wanderers. The Syndicate Trust Youth Cup produced wins for Cadley who beat Cherrybrook 8-1, Mill Hill won 7-0 at Gregson Lane, Springfields beat Layton Cavs 4-3, Poulton beat Fulwood Amateurs Blues 5-0 and Fulwood Amateurs had a comprehensive win against Astley & Buckshaw.
