Hunters & Ingol Rangers turned on the style this morning to beat table topping Ribbleton 3-0 in front of over 200 spectators at UCLan Sports Arena and this result does nothing in solving who will win the premier division this season.
Ribbleton still lead the table with 37 points from 16 games in the 18-game season. Southport & Ainsdale Amateurs who beat Theatre Boys 10-0 this morning have 35 points from 15 games, Acregate Lane LC have 34 points from 15 games and Hunters & Ingol Rangers have 32 points from 15 games. The crunch could well come on Sunday 28th April when Ribbleton host Southport & Ainsdale Amateurs at the Arena.
Back to this morning’s game which saw Hunters & IR take the lead on 20 minutes through a powerful far post header from Andrew Leggett. Ash Ball made it 2-0 after 55 minutes and despite all Ribbleton’s efforts, which included hitting the woodwork twice, they could not find a way through and their cause was lost when Andrew Lockhart was sent off by referee Dan Sanderson following a rash challenge on keeper Scott Salisbury. Lewis Pilgrim wrapped up the scoring and the points with Hunters & Ingol Rangers third on 88 minutes.
Hats off to Earnshaw Bridge who clinched the division 1 title this morning by winning 7-0 at Vernon Sports, runners up Arkwrights beat Whittle Wanderers 5-3 and third placed Walton won 5-3 at Warton. Division 2 champions Sir Tom Finney won 4-2 at Bamber Bridge Town and division 3 champions Lostock Hall won 6-1 away at runners up Park United.
Fulwood Amateurs who beat Haslingden St Marys are champions of youth division red, the two contenders for the youth division white title both won today, leaders Garstang who have 40 points from 15 games (in a 16-game season) won 3-1 at Poulton whilst second placed Cadley who have 34 points from 12 games, won 9-2 at Chipping and Garstang and Cadley are scheduled to meet on 18th April. Youth division blue is to difficult to call but the top three, BAE Warton, Fulwood Amateurs Blues and Ribbleton all won today.
There is an important League Meeting at Acregate Lane Labour tomorrow, Monday 8th April and ALL clubs MUST be represented.
