Mid Lancs Colts JFL are the FA League of the Year 2019
League Chairman Kevin Kealey (left) receives the award from Danny Murphy with League Secretary Ian Christopher
We send our warmest congratulations to the officials, clubs and players from the Mid Lancs Colts Junior Football League who are the FA Grassroots League of the Year 2019.
Officials from the League were guests of the Football Association at the Community Shield Final at Wembley between Manchester City and Liverpool and the Award was presented to League Chairman Kevin Kealey and League Secretary Ian Christopher by the former Liverpool and England star Danny Murphy.
The Mid Lancashire Colts JFL is an inclusive and progressive league that now covers over 3,000 children across 42 clubs and 179 teams. But its excellence comes through the determination to create a positive environment in which the players can enjoy their football. That includes a partnership with Lancashire NHS to promote Smoke free Sidelines, and another with Kick It Out to promote early intervention and education on racism.
These initiatives matter in providing children with a wholesome playing environment and they create a healthy experience of football that shapes their love for the game and their behaviour outside of it.
The Mid Lancs Colts League plays a vitally important role in Preston and the surrounding areas. Their teams consist of youngsters in the U8 to U10 range where they are given a sound introduction to the game, how to play it and how to show respect. Players then move into the Central Lancashire Junior League which caters for U11 to U16 and then onto the youth section of the Lancashire Sunday League.
Many of the larger clubs in this area have teams in the Mid Lancs Colts League, the Central Lancs JFL, the Lancashire Sunday League, the Mid Lancs League (Saturdays) and the West Lancashire League. This means that if a youngster wishes, he can enjoy a lifetime of football playing for the same club but in a variety of leagues.
