Lostock Hall’s cup exploits continued this morning when they beat premier division Bamber Bridge United 4-3 in the Syndicate Trust Challenge Cup at Higher Walton. The division 2 side had reached the quarter-finals of the LFA Sunday Trophy only to be beaten 5-3 away to top Blackpool side Highfield Social who have ironically been given a bye into the final.

Lostock raced to a 3-0 lead at half time with goals from Luke Crompton (2) and Mark Ganner. Bamber Bridge pulled the score back to 3-2 before Jordan Dashti added Lostock’s fourth and they will now meet division 1 side Penwortham Town in the quarter-final next Sunday 02 February. Oliver Evans, Harry Fisher and Jack Halliwell were on target for Bamber Bridge.

Worden Rangers booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Syndicate Trust Presidents Cup after winning 3-1 at BAE Warton and they will be joined by Gregson Lane Wanderers who beat South Ribble DC 5-2, Rufford Park Rangers 4-3 winners at Midgery Court and Waverley Park who beat Wilbraham NE 3-2.

Acregate Lane LC regained top spot in the premier division by beating Tanterton & Springfields 4-3 in a closely fought, cracking game at UCLan Sports Arena. Hunters & Ingol Rangers stayed in contention with a 5-1 win over Theatre Boys. Division 1 leaders Sir Tom Finney beat Wyresdale Rangers 7-0 but second placed Fulwood Park Rangers were held 2-2 by Whittle Wanderers. Park United won 3-0 at Ribbleton Wanderers in division 2.

New Longton Rovers had an excellent 2-1 win at AFC Darwen in the Syndicate Trust Youth Cup and Penwortham St Teresas beat Wyre Villa 5-1 in the Syndicate Trust Youth Troph. Youth White leaders Bispham JFF Vipers beat Gregson Lane 3-2, Thornton Cleveleys who head Youth Blue beat Chipping 4-1, Poulton Town Pumas beat Fleetwood Town 2-1 in Youth Red and Cadley, who lead Youth Green won 3-2 at Clitheroe.

The Lancashire Sunday League encourages all referees to become members of the Referees Association and it is League policy to give priority of appointments to those referees who are an RA member.

Preston Referees Society is based at Preston North End Football Club, Sir Tom Finney Way, Preston, PR1 6RU, they meet on the first Monday of each month during the football season and everyone is welcome to attend their meetings. The meetings start at 7.30pm and usually finish around 9.00pm.

Anyone interested in joining Preston Referees Society or has any queries about refereeing should contact the Society Secretary Shaun Taylor here.

Physical Training: The Society provides physical training for its members at UCLan Sports Arena Training every Monday evening between 6.30-7.30pm except on Society Monthly Meeting nights when it will be brought forward to 6.00-7.00pm.
