LANCASHIRE SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE: March 2026 Update
AFC Preston and Irongate are level at the top of the PREMIER DIVISION on 21 points, although AFC Preston have games in hand. Irongate have a Lancashire FA Sunday Trophy Final to look forward to on Wednesday 8th April at the County Ground in Leyland, where they’ll take on Bowling Green FC. Four Premier Division sides will contest the Semi-Finals of the Syndicate Trust Challenge Cup as Fulwood & Broughton play Wyresdale Rangers and it’s AFC Preston versus Irongate. Irongate’s Joseph Richardson is the top scorer by some margin, he has 21 goals in just nine league games.

Fylde Coast Football have enjoyed a rich vein of form in DIVISION ONE, having gone six points clear at the top of the ladder thanks to wins over Gregson Lane Wanderers, Park Utd and Rufford Park Rangers in March. Lonsdale Casuals and Burscough Villa sit on 33 points in second and third respectively. Two teams to look out for are Astley & Buckshaw Utd and AFC Preston (Reds), fourth and fifth currently, they have games in hand on the leaders and are within catching distance. Should they advance in their respective Semi-Finals, Burscough Villa and Astley & Buckshaw United would meet in the Syndicate Trust Presidents Cup Final. SRDC’s Richard Coley continues to lead the Golden Boot standings with 20 goals but hot on his heels is Luke Russell from Fylde Coast Football with 17.

Chorley Wanderers (Blues) have established a four-point lead at the top of DIVISION TWO with 44points to their namebut the Wanderers have Greenlands in close proximity, they are second on 40 points and a game in hand. Penwortham St Teresa’s (Yellows) are third, they have played a few games less but were only eliminated from the Syndicate Trust Challenge Cup on penalties by AFC Preston. Parkfield Ants are fourth, they boast leading goalscorer Charlie Howarth in their ranks. Charlie has scored 26 in just eleven games and is the overall top scorer across the divisions. Greenlands’ Weslie Bajraliu has scored 22, William Thom for Midgery Court has 19 and Chorley Wanderers (Blues) forward James Norris has contributed 16 from 13 games.

DIVISION THREE remains one of the most competitive competitions in recent memory. The top four clubs are separated by just two points. Penwortham St Teresa’s (Whites) are first on 28 points, Worden Rangers in second share the same points total. Moor Park Utd are third with 27 and Buckshaw (Reds) are fourth with 26 in their first Lancashire Sunday Football League season. Atletico Clifton were Syndicate Trust Presidents Cup Quarter-Finalists. The goalscoring charts are just as close as the league table itself. Dion Holden has scored 14 goals for Penwortham Town, Worden Rangers’ Danny Rowe also has notched 14 and William Holmes has scored 12 for Kirkham Seniors.

AFC Horwich may be the only side not to have drawn a game in DIVISION FOUR but they lead the standings with 39 points from their 16 games played. Whittle have 32 points in second, followed by Buckshaw and Chorley Wanderers (Whites) with 26. The Fourth Division is the only league to have three goalscorers with over 20 goals. Drew Brindle has scored 21 for Whittle, AFC Horwich’s Adam Cormican has similarly notched 21 and Tayler Royle has scored 20 for Freckleton (U23). Jacob Pridgeon has 18 in 14 games for Whittle, Jamie Forshaw 13 in 8 games on behalf of Buckshaw and possibly most impressive is AFC Horwich’s Ellis Richardson with 11 in just four appearances.

Leaders Longridge Town have yet to taste defeat in YOUTH DIVISION BLUE, their only defeats of the season thus far coming in the County Cup to Fulwood Amateur (Blues) and Syndicate Trust Youth Cup Quarter-Final. Longridge sit six points clear of Trimpell & Bare Rangers but there’s plenty of football to be played. Sir Tom Finney YFC (U17) will play Blackburn Eagles in the Syndicate Trust Youth Trophy Semi-Finals.

Chorley (U18) have stolen a march in YOUTH DIVISION RED as they have established a ten-point lead at the top of the table. Second-placed Lostock St Gerards (Whites) will contest the Syndicate Trust Youth Cup Final, while Brinscall Village U18 (Yellows) and Blackburn Eagles will feature in the Youth Trophy Semi-Finals.

Due to cup success, Lostock St Gerards (U18) have only been able to play six games in YOUTH DIVISION WHITE and will play in the Syndicate Trust Youth Cup Final against their fellow LSG counterparts. Chipping are top on 31 points with Myerscough Athletic (U18) breathing down their necks just three points back. Gregson Lane YFC are third with Leyland Albion, Youth Trophy Semi-Finalists, fourth.
