SYNDICATE TRUST YOUTH TROPHY
BLACKBURN EAGLES 2 BRISCALL VILLAGE 5
Wednesday 22nd April 2026
It was a tale of two journeys to the Syndicate Trust Youth Trophy final as Brinscall Village were dominant in a 6-0 success against Leyland Albion in their Semi-Final, while a last minute free-kick against Sir Tom Finney U17 saw Blackburn Eagles through 3-2. Both games were played at UCLan Sports Arena. The goals continued at Bamber Bridge FC with Brinscall Village playing some superb football in the opening half with captain Keane Straughton starting attacks from deep. Samuel Draycott was a constant threat at set pieces. Blackburn Eagles had skipper Alfie Caffrey marshalling their defence with the trickery of Sally Mahmoud further forward proving a handful for the Brinscall backline. SYNDICATE TRUST PRESIDENTS CUP
AFC HORWICH 1 (4) ASTLEY & BUCKSHAW UTD 1 (5)
Wednesday 29th April 2026
On paper, Astley & Buckshaw Utd were clear favourites, but on the Sir Tom Finney Stadium pitch, a very even battle emerged in the first open age cup final. Astley & Buckshaw Utd, representing Division One, took the lead early on through the prolific Joshua Sarda but unlike the Semi-Final, when the floodgates opened, AFC Horwich were resilient. Backed by vocal support at Bamber Bridge FC, Horwich equalised through Adam Cormican and the scoreline remained 1-1 at full time. In the penalty shootout, Astley & Buckshaw ‘keeper Martin Dietz made the crucial save to earn United the Presidents Cup honours. AFC Horwich, the Division Four Champions, acquitted themselves superbly.
